Independence Day of India

August 15, commemorates the day in 1947, India's biggest secular celebration, on the anniversary of her Independence from British in 1947.

It is celebrated all over the country with Meetings & flag-hosting ceremonies. August 15th is the day on which India gained independence after nearly 200 years of British rule.

A famous poem

"Where the mind is without fear
And the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been
Broken up into fragments by
Narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out
The depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches
Its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
Has not lost its way into the dreary
Desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is lead forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father,
Let my country awake."

happy raksha bandhan day

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the fifteenth day of Shravan, in July/August. (9thAugust 2006)

The congregational Raakhi function carries this social content. Particularly, the tying of Raakhi to the sacred Bhagavaa Dhwaj at the start of the function signifies this social and cultural aspect. Not only do the participants in the function develop a sense of love and affection amongst themselves but they also affirm their loyalty and devotion to the society of which they are the children. Their commitment to protect each other and also the society as a whole is emphasized through this simple ceremony.

Raksha Bandhan affords a most auspicious occasion to recharge us every year with the true spirit of service and sacrifice for the welfare of the society, and find therein the highest spiritual fulfillment of human life.

A brother is someone to look up to,

Someone you can trust,

They are the ones that make you laugh

When you are down,

They help you with homework or even

A boyfriend,

Why is it that brothers never seem to be?

Able to tell how important they are

We can talk and joke about so many things

We reminisce about the times of our lives

When we were growing up

We try to keep in touch with each other’s

Comings and goings..But of all the things

I have ever said some thing that I have always

Know that was true…and it is true….

Brothers are a very special part of our family

And a very important part of our sister’s life.

And I do know they will always be with

Me through good and bad times.

HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY

Friendship Day

There are really very few days in the year that make me as happy as this one. Friendship Day is the coolest event, simply because it gives us a chance to celebrate one of the happiest parts of our existence—friends! I love my friends to no end. I am totally in love with child hood life. And I’m sure you too have a whole lot of friends who take the everydayness out of your every day. Such special days don’t come often. A friend makes us smile when we are in a mess and helps us in our darkest hours. They are like angels handpicked by god to be by us in our walk of life. And we are grateful for this great gift, aren’t we? I have some awesome friends in my family too. The one who tops the list is my big sis, Mom, dad, my little girls, and daughter in law are no exceptions either. So on August 6, think I’m going to send them one special friendship Poem to let them know how special they are. If you have some cool friends in family, go right ahead and wish them now, if you need to say thanks for all that they did and still do. So go ahead and have a blast this August 6.

TRUE FRIEND

It’s an unexpected call

On an over-hectic day

It’s someone who hears it all

No matter what you have to say

It’s a helping hand extended

When you stumble on the way

It’s someone who lifts your burdens

With no cost for you to pay

It’s a shoulder you can cry on

When you cannot stop the tears

It’s someone who understands you

And helps dissipate your fears

It’s an ally in your struggle

Standing faithful at your side

It’s someone who doesn’t judge you

When your faults you cannot hide

It’s a place to store your secrets

All your velvet-covered dreams

It’s someone who believes in you

When your goals all hopeless seem

It’s a heart you can rely on

Honest, caring, tender, true

It’s a heart you can abide in

It’s a true friend, it is you

happy girlfrends day

Women are always special. They care for you more than anyone else and at times can even bother you to no end--and are loved for both the reasons. If you have some special girlfriends don’t forget to wish them on August 1.

Women

She sings when she is hurt, she laughs when she is nervous
She fights for her loved ones she stands against in justice
She never says “NO” for an answer when she believes you
She refuses herself new things so that her kids can have new things
She love’s you with out any conditions
She prays for the success of her children
She jumps with joy when it comes to the victories of her friends
She accompanies her family to the doctor even for a simple cold
She is always happy to hear of newborn or a marriage
She knows the pain of sorrow more than you
She knows that a hug and a kiss could fix a broken heart
She gives you joy and hope
She generates compassion, and is a role model for her family
She is the moral support for you and your family
She has much to say, much to give
Because she is your mom, your sister, your wife, your daughter,
And she is a woman!!!!

I still remember that journey

One fine morning my husband wanted to take us to Thirumala. So we started our journey from Secunderabad railway station praying to Lord Venkateshwara to take care of our journey and get his grand Darshan smoothly. My husband started chanting “Govinda, Govinda,” through out our journey untill we had Lord Venkateshwara’s Darshan. Amazingly, we felt that Lord has listened to our Prayers because we saw lot of miracles happened on our way. Despite being a rush day, our compartment in the train was almost empty and we had a very comfortable journey till we reached Tirupati.

There was no rain for many months at Tirupati and Thirumala. But when we started climbing the foothills of Tirumala, suddenly rain showered heavily and we were very happy because now with out the heat waves we could climb the hills easily. After some steps we reached the Deer park, to our surprise a giant deer came towards us without fear as the park was completely fenced. We felt the Lords presence in this deer, which is really a Miracle and fed it with some raw vegetables. My three little kids enjoyed feeding the deer. I was thinking a lot about not missing the visit to Varaha Swamy temple at Tirumala because as per the tradition we should first visit Varaha Swamy and then visit our Lord. We finally reached the abode of Lord Venkateshwara at Tirumala. We didn’t have reservation for rooms. This was the first time in my life we came with 3 little kids with out any arrangements. So we were searching for a room but unfortunately that day all rooms were booked.

We didn’t know what to do and where to stay that night. We were standing and wondering when all of a sudden three strangers approached us and asked us that do we need room to rest? My husband was afraid to accept their offer but they came to me and said they are from Bapatla, the town I grew up in, and they know me and my father. We prayed to god once again and believed them and they took us in a Tata Sumo and gave us the key and the pass and dropped us at Varaha Swamy Guest House. This was really a miracle for us. Lord Varaha Swamy has showed us a shelter to stay. We believe that the three strangers could be Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma. So we first had Lord Varaha Swamy’s Darshan and then went to Thirumala for Lord Venkateshwara’s Darshan.

For the first time We went as a normal ordinary pilgrim in the Vaikuntam Q complex line and had our Lord Venkateshwara’s Darshan for almost 5 minutes, this is once again a Miracle as nobody pulled, or pushed us and we stood in front of Lord Venkateswara for 5 minutes and shed tears and Thanked Him for all his blessings and giving us a memorable, miraculous darshan which we cannot forget in our Life. I never thought we can go with out any reservations and we can darshan lord like very common people without VIP entrance. It is a really miraculous darshan. After that I too believe my husband’s bhakthi. Because of his bhakthi our journey ended happily.

PROUD TO BE INDIAN

HAI EVERY ONE, TODAY I READ ONE BOOK ABOUT OUR INDIA, I LIKE TO SHARE SOME MEMORES OF OUR INDIAN HISTORY.SO I WRITE THIS ARTICAL.
Did you know that India is the largest democracy in the world, the 6th largest country in the world, one of the most ancient and living civilizations (at least 10, 000 years old!)?The official Sanskrit name for India is Bharat.

The name `India’ is derived from the River Indus, the valleys around which were the home of the early settlers. The Aryan worshippers referred to the river Indus as the Sindhu.The Persian invaders converted it into Hindu. The name `Hindustan’ combines Sindhu and Hindu and thus refers to the land of the Hindus. The largest employer in the world is the Indian railway system, employing over a million people! The World's first university was established in Takshila in 700 BC. More than 10,500 students from all over the world studied more than 60 subjects. The University of Nalanda built in the 4th century was one of the greatest achievements of ancient India in the field of education.

Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to mankind. The father of medicine, Charaka, consolidated Ayurveda 2500 years ago.

Until 1896, India was the only source for diamonds to the world. (Source. Gemological Institute of America)

Sushruta is regarded as the father of surgery. Over 2600 years ago Sushrata & his team conducted complicated surgeries like cataract, artificial limbs, cesareans, fractures, urinary stones and also plastic surgery and brain surgeries.

The Bialy Bridge is the highest bridge in the world. It is located in the Ladakh valley between the Dras and Suru rivers in the Himalayan Mountains. The Indian Army built it in August 1982.

Did you know?

India also celebrates the birthday of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President and Vice-President and great statesman, as "Teachers' Day". Born on September 5, 1888, at Tiruttani, 40 miles to the north-east of Madras, Radhakrishnan grew to become the most famous Indian teacher and philosopher of all times. In his honor, this day is celebrated as Teacher's Day. He was also the Vice-President of India from 1952-1962. He held the office of the Chancellor, University of Delhi, before taking over as the President of India in May 1962.
I HOPE EVERY ONE FEELS PROUD TO BE INDIAN.
